It's all about food and fun! York's first food theme festival will take place Sat, Sept 19 from 10AM-2PM at the farmers market, N Congress St.
The event will feature York restaurants and caterers who will be offering smaller size portions of choice items from their menus. It's an opportunity for them to showcase their culinary talents, menu, and services available to the community. And at the same time it will offer vistors the opportunity to sample from more than one vendor and get acquanted with area eateries and cateres, old and new.
The event will coincide with the regular weekly market and will feature live, local music too.

Clover is a creeping plant in the pea family which produces large amounts of nectar. In many regions of the world, people use clover to control erosion on banks and hillsides, because the plant roots well, holding back the soil, and clover is also used for animal fodder. Beekeepers who want to make clover honey place their hives in an area with a lot of clover, and they may also plant clover around their hives to encourage their bees to feed specifically on clover.

You can thank honey bees for that long list of goodness, as these hardworking insects are responsible for pollinating more than 100 crops nationwide. Sadly, in recent years, beekeepers have lost more than one-third of their bees to a phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD), in which bees mysteriously abandon their hives and die. Pesticides, viruses, poor nutrition and cell phone signals are often cited as culprits; however, the exact cause of CCD remains uncertain. Experts agree additional research is integral to the preservation of honey bees. Click on our little friend the honey bee for more information and what we can do to help.
