"Experience the Market"

The Market is back....bringing a touch of the country, to the heart of the city.Create a sustainable lifestyle or just come to shop and enjoy a Saturday morning with your family, friends and neighbors in beautiful, historic, downtown York. The market provides the community with fresh, seasonal, locally grown fruits and vegetables, herbs, flowers, honey, bake sale items, and eggs. As well as handmade crafts, candles, soap, leather goods, pottery, ...and new this year, something for your furry friends, and SO MUCH MORE! Every Saturday morning, the market will be transformed into a creative, educational, homey and lively community gathering place. The market is FREE to vendors and to the public. The market will feature live, local entertainment, an Earth Day celebration, "Ask a Master Gardner", "Wellness Day", a tractor show and 4H farm day, cooking and bar-b-q demonstrations by local chefs, bake sales, face painting, horse drawn carriage rides, and seasonal events. New this year is a monthly Yard Sale on the first Saturday. Non-profits, scouts, and church groups are invited to participate with hot dog sales, bake sales, lemonade stand, etc. Local clubs, churches and businesses are invited to have information booths as well.The farmers market is located on N Congress St, open Saturdays from 8:00AM-Noon. "Our" market's goal is to provide convenient access to locally raised foods and, in turn, market goers help preserve the tradition of small farms in the area. Supporting your market and your local growers is a win, win scenario for all in our community... Just thought I'd report on our first "Downtown Live" market night.....we had light turnout but the vendors did do business, and more produce is on it's way! This was such a pleasant surprize! Oh, if you could only have seen the new, baby red potatoes, and the cucumbers and tomatoes, just to name a few. I've been in contact with a few of the peach farmers in the area and we've been promised the little gems in the next week or two. This was such great news! I started thinking about what's next...melons and corn....oh, yum:) I'd like to say "welcome" to our newest vendor Robin, and we'll look forward to seeing her again soon with her pottery and other goodies. I hear some exciting things are yet to come form Small Thyme Farm too....can't wait to see. That's all for now, just wanted to say hi and I truly look forward to seeing you all Saturday. The York Police, Fire and Rescue Depts will be at the market from 9AM-Noon this week,
to share summer safety awareness with the community.

*Carseat safety, bicycle, water, and sports safety info,
as well as child finger printing will be available.
Children can take a climb through the fire truck, ambulance too.

Clowns and FREE face painting for the children!

Your favorite vendors from last season have returned and new ones are joining us weekly!!!
FRESH produce is starting to arrive!!!

The sale is open to the public and the community is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out their attics, garages, and closets and do your part for the environment by recycling your unwanted items. Sadly, in recent years, beekeepers have lost more than one-third of their bees to a phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD), in which bees mysteriously abandon their hives and die. Pesticides, viruses, poor nutrition and cell phone signals are often cited as culprits; however, the exact cause of CCD remains uncertain.
