Hello everyone!
Just thought I'd report on our first "Downtown Live" market night.....we had light turnout but the vendors did do business, and more produce is on it's way! This was such a pleasant surprize! Oh, if you could only have seen the new, baby red potatoes, and the cucumbers and tomatoes, just to name a few. I've been in contact with a few of the peach farmers in the area and we've been promised the little gems in the next week or two. This was such great news! I started thinking about what's next...melons and corn....oh, yum:) I'd like to say "welcome" to our newest vendor Robin, and we'll look forward to seeing her again soon with her pottery and other goodies. I hear some exciting things are yet to come form Small Thyme Farm too....can't wait to see. That's all for now, just wanted to say hi and I truly look forward to seeing you all Saturday. Signa

Clover is a creeping plant in the pea family which produces large amounts of nectar. In many regions of the world, people use clover to control erosion on banks and hillsides, because the plant roots well, holding back the soil, and clover is also used for animal fodder. Beekeepers who want to make clover honey place their hives in an area with a lot of clover, and they may also plant clover around their hives to encourage their bees to feed specifically on clover.

You can thank honey bees for that long list of goodness, as these hardworking insects are responsible for pollinating more than 100 crops nationwide. Sadly, in recent years, beekeepers have lost more than one-third of their bees to a phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD), in which bees mysteriously abandon their hives and die. Pesticides, viruses, poor nutrition and cell phone signals are often cited as culprits; however, the exact cause of CCD remains uncertain.
